For skin that is clear, healthy and full of vitality and radiance:
- Limit caffeine, sugar and salt intake.
- Avoid too much alcohol. This can dilate capillaries, which may cause sagging and wrinkles.
- Reduce processed and fried food intake.
- Limit carbohydrates. Excessive carbohydrate intake can cause high blood glucose levels, which create inflammatory conditions and have damaging effects on your skin.
- Don't eliminate all dietary fat - good fats keep your skin soft and supple.
- Plenty of good quality rest is important. Skin is like a mirror - it reflects what is happening in your body and mind.
- Get exercising - which helps improve peripheral circulation, which in turn ensures the skin receives sufficient oxygen and fluid
- Free radicals flourish when stress is present! If stressed try yoga, massage, aromatherapy or B-group vitamin supplementation.
- Avoid the sun - UV radiation is the greatest cause of premature ageing because it damages collagen and produces free radicals that harm the skin. Wear a hat and sunglasses.
- Exfoliate weekly - this helps to rid the skin of its superficial dead skin layer and give you a healthy glow.
- Ensure that skin products you use are as natural as possible and therefore less likely to 'clog' the skin pores.
- Have a positive attitude and surround yourself with people who recognise your inner beauty and you will shine!
